Creating a links/resources page
A very popular technique for many webmasters is to create a ‘Resources, Partners or ‘Links webpage’ and with this page linked to the homepage. If aiming to get high in Google, then linking with websites of a similar type, i.e. dance sites if you have a belly dance website. By creating some links to start with, it will at least mean that your site will begin to get crawled.
AVOID doing link exchanges with just any site and avoid linking with poorly rated page ranked sites. You can check a sites Pagerank by going to http://www.checkpagerank.com
It is also of great benefit if the wording of the link text, contains the actual keywords which are of importance to your site. Make sure for example if you are promoting Barcelona then you include the word barcelona in the actual link. A good example is to use something such as flights to barcelona.
To actually find these link partners, the link:url idea to view and then copy the link partnerships which competitors have created, can be one effective way of finding link partners. The importance for a Webmaster, designing a new belly dance website let’s say, is that this technique can be used to study and ascertain what link partnerships your competitors have. There is nothing at all stopping a webmaster from setting up link exchanges with the same people that your competitors have.
You always have the ability to find out what link exchanges your competitor sites have. You could look at the links into the Home Sauna Page at uknat.com by entering a search for links:www.uknat.com
A second way can be to simply surf the Internet, looking for appropriate websites – looking for a Links or Resources links page. Once the Webmaster has found a resources page (preferable with links which are of a similar category i.e. home sauna the Webmaster can simply email the Webmaster of the different belly dance sites on the other sites.
